The Doctor of Ministry program at Aidan University is designed for experienced ministry leaders seeking advanced theological formation, strategic leadership development, and vocational clarity.
Through a rigorous sequence of seminars and a culminating dissertation, students integrate biblical reflection, ministry praxis, and spiritual formation into a sustained contribution to the life of the church.
The program fosters academic excellence and pastoral depth, equipping students to lead with discernment, design reproducible ministry frameworks, and engage contemporary challenges with theological integrity.
Whether deepening a current specialization, exploring general ministry, or pivoting into a new area of emphasis, students pursue a coherent and uninterrupted line of inquiry tailored to their calling.

GENERAL MINISTRY TRACK
General Ministry Specialization
FOCUS-ALIGNED TRACK
This track is designed for ministry leaders who have completed their Master of Ministry (M.Min.) in a specialized area and now seek advanced formation in that same domain through doctoral study.
Building on the foundational work of the M.Min., students deepen their expertise through six integrated seminars—including MN701, Theology of Ministry and Mission and MN702, Spiritual Formation and Leadership—followed by four specialization-specific courses and a culminating dissertation. Each seminar includes a 50-page research paper that contributes to a cohesive framework for strategic ministry leadership.
The curriculum is designed to foster theological depth, vocational clarity, and reproducible ministry design within the student’s established area of calling. Ideal for pastors, chaplains, youth ministers, church planters, and ministry innovators who wish to refine and extend their impact, the Focus-Aligned Track affirms continuity of vocation while elevating academic rigor.
Graduates will be equipped to lead with strategic insight, mentor others in their field, and contribute to Christian higher education or institutional leadership through writing, teaching, and reproducible frameworks.

ADAPTIVE MINISTRY TRACK
This track is designed for ministry leaders who wish to pivot from their original MMin focus area and pursue advanced formation in a specific new domain of practical Christian ministry.
It offers a flexible yet rigorous pathway for students whose vocational calling has evolved, allowing them to transition from one specialization (e.g., Youth Ministry) to another (e.g., Chaplaincy, Pastoral Counseling, or Organic Church Ministry) without compromising theological depth or academic standards.
Students complete the two required seminars—MN701, Theology of Ministry and Mission and MN702, Spiritual Formation and Leadership—followed by four predetermined seminars that correspond to their chosen sub-track.
Each course integrates the foundational content of the MMin curriculum with the advanced research expectations of the DMin program, ensuring continuity, depth, and vocational relevance.
All seminars require a 50-page research paper that contributes to the student’s theological and strategic framework for ministry. The curriculum is designed to support interdisciplinary formation while maintaining academic rigor and contextual clarity across diverse ministry settings.
The Adaptive Ministry Track is ideal for leaders navigating vocational shifts, interdisciplinary roles, or expanded ministry responsibilities.
Graduates will be equipped to lead with clarity, adaptability, and theological integrity across a wide range of ministry contexts and may also serve in teaching or leadership roles within Christian higher education.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
Graduates are prepared to serve as senior pastors, denominational leaders, chaplains, consultants, or faculty mentors shaping future practitioners. This program is ideal for those who see ministry not just as a role, but as a lifelong vocation worthy of doctoral investment.
POSTGRADUATE STUDIES
Postgraduate studies in the School of Biblical, Theological, and Ministerial Studies at Aidan University are designed for scholar-practitioners and theological leaders who seek to make enduring contributions to the church and academy.
Students choose postgraduate study at Aidan to deepen their theological voice, refine their vocational clarity, and produce work that equips them to teach, publish, lead, and shape the spiritual imagination of future generations.
These advanced programs build upon graduate foundations and invite students into rigorous, formative engagement with Scripture, doctrine, and ministry.
Unlike undergraduate and graduate programs, all doctoral seminars are taken one per 15-week term, allowing for sustained immersion, scholarly depth, and vocational integration.
The combination of five doctoral seminars can be completed in eighteen months, with the dissertation seminar estimated to be one full year to complete.
Whether pursuing scholarly research, ecclesial leadership, or theological synthesis, postgraduate students at Aidan are equipped to think biblically, write theologically, and lead formationally in service to God’s mission.
